- Kansas City Power & Light selects Exothermic Engineering The proposal team of Power &
Industrial Services (the prime bidder), Exothermic Engineering, and
Enerfab received word in late October that their proposal had been
accepted by Kansas City Power & Light for an EPC contract to retrofit
KCP&L's Unit 1 with new Low NOX Burners (LNB) and Overfire
Air (OFA). The project consists of designing, fabricating, constructing,
tuning and testing 56 new LNBs, 18 OFA ports, and controls for the new
system. Testing and optimization of all seven B&W mills is also part of
the project scope. Equipment is to be installed during the fall 2008
unit outage.
